In my case, I picked up a Fortius "virtual reality" bike trainer three years ago, and have been happily using it to help make it through the winter ever since. Fortunately, there are some ways to make indoor cycling a little more fun and effective. Now, let's be clear: indoor cycling is no replacement for the real thing, but it's all some of us have to try to stay in shape and keep The Crazy at bay until Spring. About the only thing keeping me sane at this point is the indoor riding I've been doing. Most winters, there are plenty of distractions, such as cross country skiing, snow-shoeing, and tubing however, the weather this year has bounced up and down around the freezing mark so much that it's been slush, slush, and more slush, with no hope for any serious winter activity. As an avid cyclist, January always makes me feel that winter is never going to end.
